The goal of Kuwait’s IRG is to implement IDDSI in Kuwait’s public sector nationwide. We are currently in the process of working on a unified dysphagia menu across public hospitals that serve a population of 4 million. Our team comprises 11 volunteers to facilitate the implementation in 7 hospitals. The team is made up of dietitians and SLPs at the time being and we’ll be recruiting members as we advance. Our plan is to further spread awareness among clinicians and administrators in the public sector and eventually the private sector. Due to the diverse backgrounds of our healthcare professionals and kitchen services, the process of unifying vocabulary around food consistencies is proving to be a hurdle to overcome. Also, some find it difficult without an Arabic version of IDDSI that is not standardized yet. We are very optimistic that along with our colleagues in the IRGs we can be one step closer to be one of the countries which has officially adopted IDDSI nationwide. We look forward to benefiting from other group’s experiences.
هدف فريق IDDSI المحلي في الكويت هو تطبيق المبادرة في القطاع الحكومي على مستوى الدولة. حالياً نعمل على توحيد الوصفات الغذائية في المستشفيات الرئيسية والتي تخدم ٤ ملايين. فريقنا يتكون في الوقت الحالي من ١١ متطوع يعملون في ٧ مستشفيات رئيسية. الفريق يتكون من أخصائيو نطق وبلع وأخصائيو تغذية على أمل زيادة أعدادنا. نسعى لنشر الوعي بين الطاقم الطبي والإداريين على الصعيد الحكومي والخاص. نظرًا للخلفيات المتنوعة للطاقم الطبي وموظفين المطابخ المركزية، فإن عملية توحيد اللغة حول الكثافات الغذائية هي العائق الحالي. يجد البعض صعوبة في ذلك دون نسخة العربية موحدة من IDDSI. نحن متفائلون جدًا بمستقبل الفريق والدعم المعنوي للفرق العالمية الأخرى والاستفادة من تجاربهم.
